Alpha and Beta angles

For many years Garrett defined the angular positions of turbine and compressor housings relative to the centre housing vertical centre lines in terms of alpha (α) and beta (β) angles.

The diagram below shows how the alpha and beta angles are defined:

Note: More recently, Garrett have defined the orientation in terms of delta and epsilon angles.
